Privacy Policy
Tree Amigos Survey ("Tree Amigos", "we", "us") is a field app for tree inventories, operated by DMV Horticulture. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it.
What we collect
- Account information
- Your email address, used to sign you in and to connect you to your company. Your company name and the emails of the people your company adds to its team.
- Tree inventory data you enter
- Properties (names, client names, addresses, notes) and trees (location, species, size, health, defects, risk, notes) and the photos you attach.
- Location
- When you plot a tree, the app reads your phone's GPS position to place the tree on the map. Location is used only while you are using the app and only to record tree positions and show where you are on the map. We do not track your location in the background.
- Voice entry
- When you tap the microphone, your phone's built-in speech service (Google on Android, Apple on iPhone) turns your words into text. Tree Amigos receives and stores only the resulting text in your tree record. We do not record or store audio.
- Camera and photos
- Photos you take or choose are attached to the tree you are recording. The app does not access your photo library beyond the photos you pick.
- Technical information
- Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, device type and time of request) for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To run the app: sign-in, saving and syncing your inventory, and sharing it with your team.
- To provide support and keep the service secure.
- To manage your subscription.
We do not sell your information, show ads, or use your inventory data for any purpose other than providing the service to you.
Who can see your data
Your inventory is private to your company. Only people your company's owner adds to the team can see or change it. Our service providers process data on our behalf to run the app:
- Supabase stores accounts, inventory data and photos.
- Netlify hosts the app.
- Esri and OpenStreetMap supply map imagery. Your phone requests map tiles directly from them, which shares the map area being viewed and your IP address.
- Google or Apple handle in-app purchases and speech recognition, under their own privacy policies.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Your data is yours
You can export your company's inventory as CSV or GeoJSON at any time from the app. Inventory data, photos and maps you create belong to you and your company.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account, or your company and all of its data, email support@treeamigosapp.com from the email you sign in with. We delete it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep records. Data stored on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Access is limited to signed-in members of each company by database access rules. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep access to your email account protected.
Children
Tree Amigos is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify account owners by email or in the app.
